Live In: Silver Spring, Maryland
First Date: Dinner and a movie (we saw “The Proposal”)
How They Met: We meet through our passion for soccer. We played in the same coed soccer team.
The Proposal: He planned a romantic candlelight dinner in front of the beach in St. Lucia. After dinner, he pulled out the ring and got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.
Their approach to wedding planning: Start planning far in advance so you don’t become overwhelmed.
Wedding-Day Weather: Perfect…74 degrees sunny with a little breeze.
Wedding Time: 2 pm
Number of Guests: 115
Wedding Theme: Classic and Modern
Wedding Colors: Fuchsia, Silver, Gold
How They Made the Day Their Own: In our wedding ceremony, we included several hispanic traditions such as the exchange of the “arras” or coins. The groom’s cake represented a jersey of Pedro’s favorite Portuguese soccer team, Benfica.
Favorite Moments: Walking down the aisle with both my parents.
Dessert: Wedding cake (Ghirardelli dark chocolate and vanilla cake filled with vanilla cream and strawberry preserve) and Groom’s cake (chiffon rum cake filled with mocha  buttercream and toasted almonds) made by the Bride’s mother.
Favorite Reception Moment: Dancing with family and friends.
If You Knew Then What You Know Now…
To enjoy every minute of the big day because it flew by very fast.
The Day In 3 Words: Simply Unforgettable Day
Tips & Advice that you can offer to newly engaged couples:  To relax and enjoy your day by not stressing out on the small things that may not go the way you planned them.
What I Loved About Their Wedding:
I still remember the day I first met Jenny and her mother at Le Madeleine for a consultation.  We started out talking about the usual wedding stuff: about their big plans, how she and Pedro met, the proposal details etc.  Our conversation somehow transitioned from weddings to random topics like where to find the best pupusas in the area, Filipino cuisine (One of Jenny’s aunts is Filipino), cake decorating (Jenny’s mom is an amazing baker/cake decorator!  Yes, she’s pretty legit – as in Ace of Cakes legit.  Her cakes are amazing!  You’ll see the cake pics below :))  I remember laughing so much with Jenny & her mom about the most random things that we almost forgot to discuss wedding photography stuff!
By the end of our meeting, I WANTED TO SHOOT HER WEDDING SO BADLY.  I remember saying to myself, “Gosh, I’d REALLY love to work with them!  I hope they book me, I hope they book me – Jenny is totally my kind of bride.”  It didn’t take long for it to happen.  Less than an hour later, I received a call from Jenny and she asked for a contract to seal the deal:)
We met up again a couple months later for their engagement session in Shenandoah National Park (I will be posting pics soon)
Now THAT was an adventure.  We went on a little road trip, hiked a mile or two to find a waterfall and on our way back home, Pedro got a speeding ticket:(
BUT, we all still had a blast and it was fun hanging out with them and getting to know them.  I haven’t blogged their engagement pics (Jenny & Pedro requested that I wait until after the wedding to post them but I’ll be posting a few on their custom photo website which I’ll be working on next)
By the time their wedding day came, I was super charged and ecstatic.  I shot this wedding with my fabulous sister-in-law Jen and we had a blast working together again!  She is a part time photographer   so our schedules are constantly conflicting but when we can, we definitely try to work together as often as possible:)
I loved the traditions of Jenny & Pedro’s wedding and the fact they incorporated Pedro’s Portuguese heritage, Jenny’s Salvadorian traditions and their passion for soccer into their wedding day.  Their wedding was classic, culturally rich and romantic with Catholic traditions woven into the day.  LOVE these two!

Let me just say – the cake Jenny’s mom made was absolutely DELICIOUS…some of the best wedding cake I’ve had!  Moist, flavorful, not overly sweet and the flavors just blend perfectly together.
